Aonuma claimed that Breath of the Wild had a team of 300 people and took 4 years. Mario Odyssey had a team of around 150 people and was in development since 3D World released so about 4 years. Sakurai stated that Smash Ultimate started development in late 2015 so 3 years and had "hundreds of people".
Those games you compared to either had a much bigger team, a much longer development or both. |
Then you’re gonna have to convince Game Freak and Nintendo (since they’re the publisher who probably green light the projects as much as Game Freak does) that close to an annual release of Pokémon is not worth it anymore.
If you’re gonna say the remakes and third versions take manpowera and time, so does all the remasters/ports/remakes of the Zelda and Mario games as well. Don’t you think Majoras Mask and Ocarina of Time 3D took time and manpower from EAD even though it’s shared with Grezzo? Same with Wind Waker HD and I’m sure with Links Awakening Remake.
Any game, port or not, takes time and manpower.
