Hence, its kinda like punishing a game for having extra content. People who play Crackdown are there for the campaigns, the MP is inconsequential. This isn't Gears or Halo which have a huge focus on MP.

That's not the same thing though and I'm pretty sure you know it's not. If you are going to add a mode to a game than it has to be accounted for in the review. If that mode is bad than it will drag the score down.

With that said, reviewers could give them seperate scores like 7 for campaign and 4 for multiplayer instead of a 5.5 for example.

I think critics arbitrarily ding games when they have MP or don't. For example, The Order 1886 was criticized for not having it and it arguably should have had MP because the game was really shallow.

Star Wars BF2 got really bad scores and I feel its party because the campaign disappointed even though the focus is MP. Essentially, we are in a weird place where games can be punished for doing more.

This holiday was the first time I didn't get the new CoD because I always play the campaign. But hey, that game reviewed just fine without my favorite aspect.

In a nutshell, meh.
