I don't know if that's the queen. I know in honeybee colonies the queen wears a little red dot on her back, but I don't know if that carries over to other species.

Yeah... That's how beekeepers mark them. So that they can easily recognise their queen.

I don't think you'll find a lot of wild bees with red dots on their back.
