Yeah, but a lot of the people getting  a PSP just weren't Nintendo fans, or fans of Japanese games in general. They wanted 3rd party style western games on the go. 

Another reason: it is a multi-media system on the go to many customers. Before smartphone became famous, many people used PSP to watch video, take some photos, listen to music and do the web browser only.

And i also disagree with them about psp beat ds in term of quality game wise
