I think MS is getting things ready in the event that the XB2 fails against the PS5.

Yes, finally the good old “Microsoft is done in the console business if _______!” Keep predicting it friend, eventually maybe you’ll get it right.

Anyway, yes please? Give me the speed and quality and reliability of the Microsoft network on every console.

As much as you may not like it, if the XB2 performs worse than the XBO, it is inevitable.  Investors, nor Nadella, are going to want MS to continue to release HW if it continues to underperform.  It's why they are pushing PC and this Live expansion.  If they can't rule the console space with their own HW, they'll try to do it with SW and online.

After everything I've seen Nadella do, this isn't surprising. His strategy is to essentially be a part of the competition so that they can't be dethroned, because they will be the industry and not just part of it.

This. Monopolization of the online sector allows them to control the console space with a untapped revenue stream as long as the companies yield and play ball. The games are only a Trojan horse.

Trojan horse, indeed.  I highly doubt Sony will go along with this, as they are fine with their own online services, and so are tens of millions of people.  Nintendo may be struggling a bit fleshing out their online service, but they would be foolish to agree to this.  It may turn out to be one of those...
