As of 4 April 2014, the Xbox 360 version has sold 12 million copies.

Those sales would be counted in the VGC total though as the game launched only on XBLA at the time that was the announced sales by Notch back then before a retail version showed up to make up the rest of the sales that VGC that's still an assumption.

Where did you get the April 2014 numbers from?

From other wiki sources later it hit  "As of 10 October 2014, the game has sold 17 million copies on PC, becoming the best-selling PC game of all time.[208] As of 10 October 2014, the game has sold approximately 60 million copies across all platforms, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time"

This happened after PS4/XB1 launches and before PSV launch, but the majority was still 360, PC, mobile and PS3 sales.

And lastly "As of January 2018, over 154 million copies had been sold across all platforms"
