To be fair, I saw a lot of people saying the opposite. Many people kept shitting on Square's support of the Switch because "Dragon Quest XI should have been one of the first games on it, it was the first to be announced!" And whenever Square put out a press release about how hard it was to develop the version, or that they weren't far enough to show it up, they were heavily criticized.

This really does look like a port that took quite a bit of time and resources and it probably shouldn't be expected to be the standard of most ports, even ones from top level studios.

Honestly I think it was just announced way too early. It's natural for people to get annoyed when you announce a game then don't show it for years. IMO, a game should never be announced unless you have gameplay footage of it to show, and if it's 2 years or less away from release. But that's just me.

While its too soon to say for sure it does seem like a commendably well done port. That's the way it should be though, developers should always endeavor to create high quality products.

Yeah I agree lol. I thought I remember it being an "accident", it still happened when the Switch was codename NX. Don't know how they accidentally did that, must have not edited their presentation.

It would certainly be nice. When I say "expect" I mean in terms of believing something will realistically happen, not that consumers shouldn't want better ports, obviously expecting better is something consumers should always do. At the very least if it's a huge success maybe we'll get bigger Japanese AAA support.
