If MS want to make back the billions they've lost already they are in no position to do that. But MS might use the policy of just bleeding Sony dry by forcing their hand and just take their own loses in the process as well. But if that were MS's strategy then they should have dropped the price in Europe long before they did.
MS obviously want to make money and they cannot do that with a $100 price drop.
