If I recall correctly, there are certain advantages that pointer controls + IR sensors have over gyro controls. They aren't the same thing and it isn't a straight 1:1 port. So just because the motion controls in the joycons are more accurate from a gyro perspective, doesn't necessarily mean the gyro experience translates well as a supplement to pointer controls.
Although still, Nintendo should be able to make it work. After all, Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were not originally developed for motion controls.
