Truly some amazing arguments here. Sheer powerful points such as "I don’t know what it is but the game, to me, just feels tedious" and "I’m 10-12 h in and simply don’t get hooked" provide the backbone for a well thought-out critique and thus justification of why Dark Souls is truly overrated. You sir have convinced me - it went from being one of my favorite games ever to being a title which I genuinely hate and I am now calling up Sony support as we speak to see if I can get a possible refund. I didn't think it could be done, but you did it.

I’m truly sorry for having a different subjective opinion than you.

Just out of curiosity, how many hours should I play before it becomes more fun?

Game's just not for you, bro. If you haven't gotten on board after 10-12 hours, you likely won't.

Personally, though? I didn't like it until I played the remastered version on PS4. I had played Bloodborne and Dark Souls III first and the original felt clunky and I hated half the bosses and areas when I beat it the first time on PS3. Then it came out again, I knew what I was doing, and Blighttown actually functioned so I loved it. IT's now one of my all-time favourites (Though I still like Bloodborne and DSIII more).

Git Gud and you'll love it.

Seriously! The term is reductive and exclusionary and I hate it but there's some truth to it. Dark Souls is one of those "you won't like it if you let it kick your ass" games. for most I know, the switch is flipped once they 'get' it and start getting good at it.  For some that's 1-2 hours in, for others - like me - that's not until New Game +. I stay either stick with it until you like it or give up on it. don't seek outside influence to keep going or you'll just resent it
