 well they had a really successful launch in NZ. For such a small county 7.5k is a large amount.

gah, for the record, in early april, PS3 had sold 4835 in New Zealand.  This was more than the Wii in this calendar year.
But for life time at that stage, Wii had sold 10k... So I am not too sure where you are getting this 7.5k..
