Lol you're not too knowledgeable on Smash stuff it seems. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Link may be a top tier (I don't think so, though), but if he is it's not because of his smash attacks or spike. Link's big deal is the remote bomb, which allows him to recover in all sorts of crazy ways and can give him insane stage control if used correctly, especially coupled with his boomerang. From then on, yeah, he just destroys anyone with that insane killpower.

Samus's charge shot can always be reflected unless it's already been reflected several times, and her spike is one of the best and easiest to land in the game. Her "down A" attack is called a down tilt, and it doesn't hit invincible opponents at all - opponents are not invincible when lying on the ground. And her bombs really are mostly just to make you harder to hit, but that's actually a very good thing.

Anyways, personally I'm a competitive player so my ruleset preferences are quite basic. 3 stocks, 7 minutes, mostly everything turned off, Final Destination only (well, and also Battlefield, Smashville, Pokémon Stadium, Lylat Cruise, Kalos and Unova Pokémon Leagues, Town & City, WarioWare, Castle Siege and Yoshi's Story). Personally I also like Frigate Orpheon, Halberd and maybe a couple others - I do want as many stages as possible in competitive play, but have been really disappointed by some decisions people have been making.

My main is Ridley, he's awesome. His neutral air is insanely good, gets through everything, good in advantage and disadvantage, good in neutral and also offstage. Just an amazing move. Then well, there's the rest of the moveset, which for the most part I like (except for that shitty down air, did it really have to be a dive?), but what I like most about Ridley is the aesthetics, his animations are so cool and full of character, and the Meta Ridley design is great. I feel like he's a little lacking and might need a few buffs, but he's got loads of potential.

Then there's also Meta Knight, my ex-main from Smash 4, who, while I still find quite fun to play, it just hasn't really worked out for me in this game. I reckon he's actually top tier, but I guess I just can't get used to dash attack spam not being effective like it was in the previous game. It's cool that he got more range, though, and his tornado is crazy good now, especially for edgeguarding. I'm still playing him sparingly, but nowhere near as much as Ridley.

I didn't want to make the Link paragraph too long, but yes the remote bombs are great. So is the bow and arrow. And the up special. I feel like link doesn't have a single bad move in his arsenal.

In the tips section of the game it said that projectiles that deal 50% or more damage cannot be reflected. Maybe the game's tooltip is wrong though, I haven't tested it. Samus' spike just lacks range IMO. Either that or I'm just bad at using it. Link's spike seems easy because it stays out forever, so timing isn't an issue. Do most moves just whiff when people are lying on the ground then? I just found out that there are up tilts, down tilts, and forward tilts. How do you do these? So far I've only figured out how to do a down tilt.

I like Ridley too, but haven't gotten enough hours with him yet. His forward B is my favorite move. Grab them and then fly offstage while holding on. I bought a Ridely Amiibo to complete the Metroid Amiibo collection, so I'll have to main him eventually. And yes, his Metal skins are awesome.
