Faster than Wii/ PS2 is obviously good but really the real race here was always Switch vs handhelds, Will be interesting to see how the pace btw Switch and 3DS/ DS continues.

Japan is definitely selling 30m+ Switches lifetime.  You see there are basically two types of gamers in Japan: those who prefer the 3DS and those who prefer the Vita.  Both types of gamers are getting a Switch!

It is selling slower than the 3DS and that isn't even 25 million yet. DS hit 32 million I believe so that is obviously the goal, but somehow I doubt it gets that far. I think 20 million is realistic or current generation of the Switch

You need to look at the rates a little more closely.  3DS peaked its first year, because it got a price cut its first year.  Switch has not peaked yet.  It's sales are still accelerating, and it hasn't gotten a price cut yet.  Switch is in a far better position than the 3DS.

On top of that count on the top Japanese franchises coming to Switch: Pokemon (obviously), Dragon Quest XI, and eventually a brand new Monster Hunter.  All of these and a bunch of other "Japanese style" games are going to keep pushing Switch sales.  It definitely reach 30m+ in Japan.
