This is how God in Cristhianity is, forgivenes requires the blood of a lamb. Currenly Christianity is the only big monotheist religion that doesn't do any animal sacrifice due to the faith based on forgiveness through the sacrifice of Christ. Jews are still under the Law so for them animal sacrifices are still required (even though they are still awaiting for a Messiah to return the sacrfices). In Islam there is also animal sacrifices during the Hajj every year.

The fact that his colleagues are doing it, doesn't make it any less fucked up. They're all fucked up.
