OK. So the dock doesnt have a fan or have like some sort of additional PSU. So if there were a USB c cable that spilt into HDMI and power to allow the switch connect to a TV and also draw power from the wall at the same time will that work?
That would technically be a rigged dock (which could damage the device if your power regulation is off), and the image would no longer be on the Switch screen. Remember when dock mode it triggered, the screen on the Switch no longer works (as it is being used as a console at this point). If it were still working as a handheld, you would be able to play on the portable screen, no? And does that mean that the PSP was a hybrid too or even better a home console? Because it had a TV out cable.
No because unlike the Switch, it is just outputting the image to the TV and nothing more. The Switch literally changes how it functions based on wether or not it is docked or not. The PSP outputting to the TV was more of a feature than a change in form.
Plus with the Switch you get a number of current gen multiplats designed for consoles, and all of Nintendo's console designed games.
However if someone really wanted to only play on the PSP and use it as a console, who am I to say they are wrong?
And its not about hacking it... I believe before this gen is done nintendo will sell the NS without a dock and just cables instead.
Ok, that does not change the fact that it has two different operations for two different forms, be it cables or a dock. |
