Nobody outside of hardcore forum going gamers knew or cared about the "unprecedented partnership" or Origin boycott so those are irrelevent.

The problem was never the launch support, it was the support after launch that immediately dried up. If I can recall, the Vita suffered the same problem. And even if casual customers did not know about the specifics of the "unprecedented partnership" and the Origin boycott, the results of those were clear even for them: Lack of games. Again, the EA debacle was not the most important factor for the WiiU's failure, but it's not insignificant either.

Launch support should hold a system up for more than 2 weeks, it dropped to sub-50k in the 2nd week of January, that is not from lack of support since early January has never been known for big releases, that's from the system itself being undesirable and no amount of EA support would have made that better.

The EA debacle is so far down the list of reasons Wii U failed that it's not even worth mentioning, every relevant thing that went wrong with Wii U came from Nintendo themselves, unappealing hardware, terrible marketing/advertising & poor 1st party support are the main culprits.
