Off screen gaming and portable gaming are not the same thing.  The WiiU was a dedicated home console, not a  console/portable hybrid.

Er. The WiiU you could "portably" take your game-pad up to around 8-meters from the base station.

Remember... You also said the key word "Hybrid". - It's a step between being able to take it everywhere... And having a fixed device... You know... What this entire argument is about?

I can play within 8 meters of my PS4 Pro as well, just a bit further away from the screen.  Does that make the PS4 or X1 a portable as well?  I mean, by that logic all wireless devices would be "portable".

What are you talking about?  I said the Switch was gen 3 then.  I am just simply pointing out that the Switch was the first one to make a real impact.  I never said it was not one way or the other lol.

You said it was a first gen and a third gen. Re-read your post.

I said that it was 3rd gen after you made your point, but pointed out that it was the 1st gen that made an impact in the mainstream.  I never said it was both (though my wording could have been better, I admit).  The only time I claimed 1st gen was before you brought up the Sega system and the Nvidia Shield, which I acknowledged by stating that Switch was more accurately a 3rd gen hybrid.
