But, they are able to license them for download in the PlayStation Store?  Every choice they made with the PlayStation Classic screams "lazy" every bit as much as it does "cheap".

The price of games on the store is different than what Sony is paying to have them on PS1 Mini.

PS1 games on the PS1 Store range from $6-$10. FFVII, MGS and RE are all $10 games. These are among the most popular selling games. I dont think Tekken 3 is on the PS Store and its for some licensing reasons.

Anywho, its safe to assume the games they paid the most for were FFVII, MGS, RE and Tekken 3. While pretty much every game they put on the PS Mini were cheaper or free to put on the device. That's likely why we have a very mixed bag of games on the device. Sony didnt want to pay much on games because it would eat into profits and it already has less games than similar devices. The only credit we can give is the games on it are newer than competitors.

Hopefully we will start seeing newer TV devices with 5th and even 6th gen content. If we get the N64 mini in 2019 I would buy that on day one.

I don't see that as "credit" worthy.  The PlayStation is their oldest system.  It's not they had a pre-PlayStation console that they skipped over in order to give people newer games than the competition.  I'd like to see an N64 mini as well, but for right now, Reggie has said it's not happening.
