Smash is on pace of what i was expecting 4M+ units sold in December, so i'm not surprised, good results.

But why NPD is doing this marketing piece for Nintendo?? Why they say fastest console of the gen only when it benefits Switch??, They know that in a few months it will be PS4 turn for its aligned holiday season and it will become fastest console of the "gen" again in USA. And why they're calling Switch a console of the same generation as PS4 and XBO though?, what was Wii U then???

NPD arent marketing anything for Nintendo.

Nintendo is just using NPD data, and clearly states so. Microsoft and Sony are free to do that as well.

Well, i read something along the lines "according to The NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. From its launch in March 2017 through November 2018, Nintendo Switch has sold more than 8.7 million units, outpacing U.S. sales of all other current-generation systems at the same point in their life cycles." So is NPD who's saying Switch outpaced every other gen console. I don't remember giving an special annoucement for that with PS4 or XBO, they only said these kind of things on the monthly NPD news.

So, i don't understand why now they say something like this mid month and why they're calling Switch "current generation system". And the fact that they know the period of sales are not the same for Switch against PS4/XBO is not cited, so when in 3 months PS4 is still ahead of Switch, there will be no annoucemnt of Switch falling behind again, but this PR will remain in the conciousness of the people so people will think Switch is always ahead. If Nintendo was saying this it would be perfectly normal because is its best interest, but NPD should serve as impartial information of gaming sales, not for half truth news that only benfits one side....
