It's basically a platformer.  With a user friendly level editor.  Along with online capabilities (both for playing multiplayer and sharing levels).

I'm looking forward to this game.  Hopefully they include things like motors, springs, and other physics props.  I could definitely see myself playing around with those for a long time.

I have a feeling that the story mode could be something like in SSE for SSBB but with Sony franchises, that would be cool. Too bad you only get to dress like characters rather than playing with them. Considering the story didn't make sense, and this won't either.

Also, look through some of the other videos on GameTrailers so you can see just how much crazy crap you can create in this game and how different the levels can be in terms of objectives and play style (you can make a level a race, a collectothon, require the user to defeat a boss, or just simply make the user figure out their way to the end, among other things). :D
