Really, you think the Dark Ages started 2011? The Nintendo (console) Dark Ages has been around since 2001 losing most of their third party supporters and fanbase to Sony and Microsoft to the point that they're aren't considered serious competitors anymore in the core gaming scene which is a huge loss considering Nintendo started the serious console wars craze with Sega.
They got a big break in 2006 with the Wii but then Nintendo had no damn clue on how to follow up the Wii's casual market success. They tried to market the WiiU to casuals and core gamers but failed cause they cheaped out immensely on the hardware specs thinking it would be another Wii-hit wonder and with Nintendo's pride so high up their asses made it only worse to get third party support.
This Nintendo "Dark Age" is nothing recent it's as old the NintenDOOM threads and predictions.
