2010 and 2011 easily beat out 2008 and 2009 as far as quality games (well depends on how mush you like Smash Brawl and Mario Kart Wii) at least in number of games released, it was an uptick.

Eh, I dunno about that.

2010 was the system's best year in terms of games by far, in fact I'd say it was one of Nintendo's best of the 21st century.

If you lived in PAL, 2011 wins on the strength of Xenoblade, but in the Americas I think 2008/2009/2011 are pretty close. The way I see it, the worthwhile games of each were:

2008: Mario Kart, Smash, (I don't like i but I'm aware most do) de Blob, No More Heroes, World of Goo, Shaun White Snowboarding, COD World at War.

2009: NSMBWii, Wii Sports Resort, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Dead Space Extraction, Excitebots, Little King's Story, Punch-Out, Muramasa, COD4.

2011: Zelda, Rayman Origins, de Blob 2, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Modern Warfare 3.

They're pretty close IMHO, but 2008 and 2009 win in terms of quantity.

Skyward Sword and The Last Story were two big games for the Wii period, let alone just for 2011. Pandoras Tower also released then and was a very decent game though you could tell smaller budget. That kind of re treading through a game I will give you was excessive.
