Platinum would be more successful on PlayStation.

... Ok. Now, why would they be more successful ? Give us justification cuz so far Platinum has been well alive and kick in with their deals with publishers such as SE and Nintendo.

Nier Automata literally saved Platinum from bankruptcy and guess which platform supported it most? Playstation 4 was its biggest platform for sales by good margin.

Bayonetta had a trash port to PS3 and the Xbox 360 version was better and it still sold more on PS3.

Metal Gear Rising sold more on PS3 than any other platform.

Its really down to the fact that PlayStation is the most popular platform for hack and slash genre fans, probably because it has historically had God of War and Devil May Cry as exclusives which cemented PS2 as the platform to go to for the genre and the fans have followed since to the PS3 and PS4 which also exclusively house God of War the best selling series in the genre.

I have no doubt Bayonett 3 will do better than Bayonetta 2 but not by much. Bayonetta 2 didn't fail because it was on Wii U, plenty of Wii U exclusives sold well. The Nintendo audience was on Wii U as evident by sales of exclusives. Still Bayonetta 2 didn't do well.

It didn't even sell well on Switch with its remaster where other Wii U ports were successful. Which leads me to think the audience still isn't there.

Most Sony studios do jack. London Studio makes nothing, Bend hasn't made a game since Golden Abyss and Days Gone is hardly blowing people's minds, Media Molecule hasn't madea  successful game since LittleBigPlanet 2. Polyphony releases one game per gen and that too with a caveat. I adore GT Sport but it has got so many blatant flaws with regards to content that has been easily exploited by the competition and journalists who go by the PR and hype and people who haven't already played it don't see it as a good game. Sony needs more developers.

So what are you really saying? That the existing teams should do more or that sony should close them down and get new studios?

Cause what I am telling you is that sony already has more studios that either nintendo or MS, even after MS new batch of aquisitions. Now if the games those studios make or don't make isn`t to your liking is a different matter. But you honestly will be making a better argument if you were saying sony should get more out of their studios.

On another note, as far as exclusive output this gen, even with them underutilising their studios, sony has still managed an exclusive output of around 3-4 exclusives every single year. No other company can make that claim. And their exclusives are all doing very very well.

Again, MS is playing catch up. Nintendo is nintendo ad sony is doing just fine.

I think it will surprise you if you make a list of all the true exclusives SWWS has brought to market either directly (made and published by sony) or indirectly (made by third party published by sony). If you did that you would see how stupid this notion of yours is.

I don't think London Studio has the talent to do anything amazing. The rest could do more but they don't have the talent for that now and its not that easy to hire a competent team of developers to an existing studio and integrate them well when competent developers are likely in another studio.

Where did I point to my liking here? Its objective that Bend, Media Molecule and Polyphony Digital were slow as fuck releasing games this gen.

I also did say their exclusives are doing well NOW but the competition is going to stiffen next gen and they should be prepared for it.

You can't count on third party publishers to make exclusives. Nier Automata was a "PS4 console exclusive" paraded as a PS4 exclusive by many fans last year even though it was on PC. When it was successful Square Enix brought it to Xbox One. Its not even console exclusive now.

Yakuza was also paraded as a PS4 exclusive. But post success Sega ported it to PC as well. Its obvious that any franchise that shows signs of appealing to a decent sized audience from third parties goes multiplatform eventually. Persona 5 is the one that hasn't done it yet but it could happen.

Don't forget Tekken and Final Fantasy were PlayStation exclusives at some point as well. Then Xbox 360 happened. It got a decent sized audience. Bandai Namco and Square Enix made their PlayStation exclusive series go multiplatform. Sony needs its own suite of first party developers and exclusives which it can reliably sell its consoles.

You are seeing the here and now, not the then and there. Microsoft's acquisitions will have products in a few years and Sony will have a massive force to deal. Obsidian has made some really fan loved RPGs and that itself will bring people to Microsoft products. Ninja Theory could make a phenomenal hack and slash game as DMC Devil May Cry had the combat depth sorted. Playground Games will still make phenomenal arcade racing games. Turn 10 makes pretty good simulation racers. Microsoft already has first and third person shooters in their bag as far as exclusives are concerned. They could get the PR on their sides pretty quickly with these releases.

Most Sony studios do jack. Platinum would be more successful on PlayStation.

During the Scalebound period of time, Platinum Games talked at great lengths about how they've wanted to make that game for a long time, and - more generally - how they've always wanted a series that they could cultivate and could call their own, that could be successful. In that respect, while you can talk about sales figures all you want, Nintendo is keeping a large portion of Platinum Games employed - and they're the ones that made Bayonetta into an icon, as well as owning the parts of Bayonetta 2 and 3, so I don't really see your point ... as it seems to be very flawed.

Granted Platinum Games most successful title was Nier Automata, but I believe the IP is owned by Square and the big head Yoko Taro isn't part of Platinum Games. Of course Bayonetta is owned by Sega, but Bayonetta has also only seen one developer throughout it's entire franchise ... it's not Bayonetta without Platinum, it could very easily be Nier and Drakengard without Platinum Games.

Not to mention i'm pretty sure that in addition to wanting to own their own IP, they also said they'd want it to be multiplatform. So Platinum staying multiplatform is best for now.

But yes, when you just completely forget all of those things .... Platinum would be more successful on Playstation 4 .... during the Wii U era. Let's see what happens when Bayonetta 3 comes out.

After E3, Microsoft received plenty of criticism for acquiring developers that at one point made multiplatform games. It's only fair that Sony gets the same amount of scrutiny. All four developers in the poll have released successful multiplatform games at one point or another.

Platinum seems to be content working under Nintendo right now (and they said they want to be more dependent..). I don't see Insomniac happening either because they want to own their own IP (hence why SO was on XB1). It also wouldn't surprise me if Sony made an offer at some point and got turned down. To seriously answer the question, Quantic Dream would be a wise acquisition right now.  I would say Supermassive Games if they weren't working with Bandai Namco right now.

The scrutiny will last for a little while but these acquisitions will make products that will tangibly benefit Microsoft.

Platinum is making a Switch exclusive. Its not working under Nintendo per se. It could still be acquired though probably would have to finish Bayonetta 3.

This is what I have to say to this thread:

"The competition looks pale in comparison"

Yeah, but no. Microsoft released a better Forza game that GT will ever be, and I don't even mention Nintendo which is killing it since last year with its exclusives, which are better rated for most of them, and sell very well.

Forza Horizon and GT are incomparable in direct measure. I love both games but Forza Horizon 4 is arcade racing at its best and GT Sport is simulation racing at its best.

Forza Motorsport 7 isn't nearly as good as GT Sport though its pretty good in its own right. Despite what reviews suggest.
