On every physical copy sold, the console makers have a 20% cut (every single game, not just exclusives), while digital sales get them a 30% cut. That's a 50% increase.

The publishers/developers get a increase in their cut too, going from 55% to 70%. That would be about a 28% increase.

With both sides benefiting from digital sales more than physical, it would make sense for them to incentivize people to go full digital. So understandably they try to cut out the middle man, which is the retailer.

This is a shift I fully support (infact I'm like 98% digital already) for various reasons (for example, more of my money goes through to the makers of the game, especially if it's an indie game), but many others oppose it.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
