What you think is most certainly relevant. You disagree with my assessment that the PS1's domination of Gen 5 was due primarily to Nintendo's mistakes, which also entails the tacit claim that Sony's success is mostly if not entirely due to their own efforts. Either Nintendo's choice of format for the N64 was the main contributor to their massive loss in market share or it wasn't, and considering that said choice resulted in nearly every big third-party game coming out on the PlayStation and not the N64, it would seem that it was. Yes, Sony actively courted third parties and made a console that appealed to them. No, that alone didn't net them the win. The N64 being cartridge-based is why that generation was so lopsided. Decisions regarding hardware design do matter

I agree with you. Funny enough, history repeats itself. The PS4 wins because the competitors slipped.
