The title is more accurate but still, when you resign based on someone else request, people would still consider that as getting fired.  Either way, this was rumored before the elections so looks like business as usual.  If the other rumor is true that Mueller has Trump Jr in his cross hairs then the time is now for Trump to make this move before stuff gets out of hand.

Yeah I've heard that rumor about Don Jr too but nothing has come out of it thus far.  This is the strategy I see unfolding with Whitaker now at the helm. You're going to see decreased funding for the Mueller probe which will hinder him from doing his job properly. Investigation will not be stopped by will be so drained of money that even when its on going it will still seem like its stopped.

That's my guess as to what will transpire
