I doubt this. PS3 has sold less than 7.5 million units since the launch of the PS4. The PS2 sold a ton of consoles after the launch of the PS3, but the PS3 severely stumbled out of the gate and barely ended up selling half of it's predecessor's lifetime sales. So, unless you are expecting a disastrous PS5 launch, I don't see the PS4 selling another 30 million units once PS5 hits the market. History tells us that it can't be both ways.

Sorry I was basing this on the guy who said ps3 sold 15m this gen. Didn't realise it was only 8m.

No worries. Here's what PS3 sold after PS4 launched:
2017 - 112,899
2016 - 517,916
2015 - 1,342,092
2014 - 3,557,573
2013 - 1,893,125 (from PS4 launch date to end of year)
Total - 7,423,605
