This entire argument is completely baseless considering that his direct quote only says "third parties", not technically impressive, non-Japanese or AAA ones.

"They’ve been so underpowered [in terms of hardware] that they don’t have the support of third parties because they’re all making games for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And the Nintendo Switch is no different."

He was saying the Wii U was so underpowered that it missed out on third parties. Well.. maybe the guy was just flat out wrong in his assessment that you need power to get third parties. Switch is obviously underpowered compared to the PS4 and XBO but that hasn't stopped it from getting far more relevant support of third parties than the Wii U ever did, even barring independent devs. Sometimes devs are just plain wrong, they don't need you doing damage control for their misguided statements.

Uhm... that's the point. Its underpowered so its gonna miss out on games. That's exactly what's happening. The support its getting plenty of are less technically demanding games. You think that's a coincidence?

Here's the thing, Switch fans are making a different argument than what was actually intended. We all knew Switch was gonna get support of less technically demanding games and some major games would be scaled back for Switch, that happened for 7th gen consoles as well. However, even I'm surprised by how little support of major titles Switch is getting even though Switch has strong sales and supports the engines.

In March the Switch will be 2 years old, so in about 5 months. I think the userbase will be over 30 million. However, the list of upcoming games for Switch has very few major releases. Especially with the holiday coming, its kinda bizarre. Selling great, but not well supported for major releases. At the very least it would be nice if it had more 7th gen ports like Skyrim and Diablo III. Because the Switch can easily handle 7th gen era games and make improvements.

I think as shown, a lot of these current and upcoming games have been in development before either third party devs had available dev kits or before third party developers realized how successful the Switch would eventually become. Games like Soul Calibur VI could potentially come to Switch due to it running on UE4, but the game was already in development prior to the Switch being a thing. Even Dragon Ball FighterZ came late, even though the time frame between the Xbone and PS4 releases compared to the Switch's release was actually not too bad in all consideration. Same with Crash N' Sane Trilogy and even Okami HD. I guess the more puzzling release was Dark Souls Remastered as it was released late on Switch for some reason..
