There are a lot of factors, and porn is more of a symptom than a cause IMO :
- Altough there are now less than 10% of single sex schools, mixed schools are still kind of a new concept, a lot of older citizens studied were raised in single gendered education. (It's usually considered it takes 3 generations for a change to become a full accepted part of the customs)
- Lousy sex education in school, from separated classes for boys and girls being taught to the taboos the teachers have inherited
- Despite the commercialized aspect of sex being widely marketed, the indiviuals sex life are still, somehow, highly tabboed ; creating a dissonance encouraging authors to break this taboo and thus furthering the said dissonance.
- Unbelievable work hours give little time for socializing.
- Generation Y cynicism combined with and partially caused by all of the above leading to the conclusion that love might be unnecessary.
