The only problem I really have is that you can't play the core game online. That's just kind of inexcusable in 2018.

youre right, but imagine how many people would lag out or rage quit after just a few turns

I would mostly play with my friends who are unlikely to rage quit. Also, there have been P2P board games before, so I don't think lagging out would be a particular concern. While I am pretty excited to play this game soon (it should be delivered to me by Wednesday), I still feel I would get so much more playtime with it if I could play the board game with friends though the internet as opposed to only being able to play together in face to face sessions (which is more difficult to schedule, and occur less frequently). I have a similar complaint with some of Nintendo's other games were the multiplayer adds to the experience but where it is only limited to local play, namely New Super Mario Bros Wii/2/U/U Deluxe and Super Mario 3D World.
