1440P is the sweet spot at the moment in my opinion... And you know what? Even though my display is "only" 1440P, I still run games like Overwatch at 4k anyway.

That and we have access to tools as well as the ability to downsample/super sample our games anyway.

I just decided to boot up Fall of Cybertron, and thanks to a Steam launch command, I'm past the 60fps lock and enjoying a sharp image at 144fps. It's an old 2012 game, so I've zero troubles in maxing it out (even going as far as to edit the ini to push for 16x AF, as the default was on 4).

I think 4k will be a more viable resolution in a few years anyway, it's not like 1080P happened overnight either.

Next generation displays are slowly ramping up... Things like HDR, High Refresh Rates are probably a more important factor than 4k, especially if you already have a 2560x1440/2560x1600 display.
