it's about 2 frames (60fps) slower than my 144 hz monitor.

84 frames slower actually.

60fps is 60hz.

On any windows 10 PC i've used, the resolution is set to max by default and it uses screen scaling to make things the correct size (also by default). I don't see why you would want to use native 1080p when you have a 4k display. I just checked and even though scaling makes everything the same size, icons and fonts look blurry by comparison. Easier on the eyes it is not.

That's the kicker though. Not everyone is running Windows 10.
Prior OS's have woeful scaling.

XBOX ONE X IS A MONSTER.

In what aspect? Because hardware wise it's mid-range/low-end.

So will ps5 likely have 1440p and 60fps as its standard?

Anyone expecting any kind of resolution or framerate "standard" on console is probably kidding themselves.
You get what you are given, you have no choice.

Developers will opt for the resolution/framerate that fits their game, sure you might have a performance mod or a quality mode... But that's about the extent of it.

that high amount for 1366x768 hitting that sweet spot for budget laptop resolution, still I wonder the accuracy of this though if it's based on particular games or one title in particular, say if it was on an easier to run title some people would push to higher resolutions but then adding up these numbers suggests that over 30% of PC users play games at sub 1080p, still in X360/ps3 era resolutions, fairly sad when you can pick up something like a 780ti now for chump change that'll give you well over 100frames @ 1080p

If you want to play semantics... The Xbox One and Playstation 4 base consoles aren't doing 1080P all the time either.
...And that is before we touch on the Nintendo Switch.

Resolution is only one aspect of the graphics equation, it's an important one sure... But if you want the best graphics, resolution and framerates... Without question, the PC is where it is at.. And next console generation is not going to change that if consoles are only topping out at only 4k.

For consoles at least, I hope and think both sony and microsoft will put built in calling solutions ahead of native 4k and set that as the standard for their games. That extra clarity just isn't needed when then stills much to be achieved with the base visuals, lighting and fx.

What?

B...b...but all PC games are 4k 60fps tho!

False.
But they can most certainly exceed 4k/60fps though.
