I don't think any of this was saying that consoles were going the way of the dodo. That and consoles have been adopting PC like hardware and software pages from PC's book over the past generation, so in a way they are more or less closed off PC boxes at this point.
That being said, for the PC side of things, RT and new forms of AA will be a draw for the GPU side. Each platform has their things that draw people in.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
