That's a strange attitude to take towards someone you're hiring. Wouldn't you want to know how they'd do on the job before hiring them?
What I'm really curious about now though is, what exactly are you hoping for from this guy? Are you an environmentalist? Are you pro big, international business over small businesses or consumers? Are you anti-abortion? What do you think this guy will be the decided vote on that you're excited about? Because if you're calling accusations that he'll be anti-environment and anti-consumer fear mongering, that suggests you think those are things worth being afraid of. If you didn't, you'd just say "who cares if he's anti-environment!" or "I think all his anti-environment decisions are correct!" or whatever the case may be for each issue.
