In a background check, FBI agents focus on the professional lives of the person. This includes interviews of a minimum of 30 people with whom the nominee worked with.

Now in this new background check, the FBI can follow several new leads. They can interview Mark Judge, Leland Keyser and P.J. Smyth, high school friends of either Dr. Blasey or Judge Kavanaugh etc.

Can the FBI finish within a week? It's possible. EX: FBI agents examined domestic abuse allegations against Rob Porter, the WH staff secretary for Trump. The investigation took a few days. Long story short, he resigned.
