So there has been a lot of discussion regarding the future of JRPGs. One thing that has been pointed out pretty consistently is the evolution of the genre, which in it's most relevant forms now leans more towards Action RPGs rather than turn-based ones. Because of this, I've seen debates on the internet pop up occasionally about whether Pokemon should evolve into an Action RPG or not.

Some of the points given for why Pokemon should become an Action RPG are:

+It changes up the franchise greatly, something that has needed to happen for a while

+It reinvigorates the power that Pokemon has as a fad (like Pokemon Go, or Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow)

+It may introduce people who were previously uninterested in Pokemon to the series

However, there are a lot of points given against the idea, such as:

+Japan tends to prefer turn-based RPGs

+A large part of the Pokemon audience is kids, who may more easily understand the slower style of battle compared to that of an Action RPG

+Pokemon is the highest selling RPG series of all time, so it really should not change based on trends since so much of it's potential audience is already accepting of it's turn-based gameplay

Personally, I lean towards the idea that Pokemon shouldn't become an Action RPG. At least not the main series. I find the evidence against the idea more compelling than the evidence for it.

But anyways, what do you think?
