Honestly I doubt that it lost money. Square announced nearly 7m sold for it back in November 2017, by now it's probably around 8m sold. If 8m in sales is a loss, the budget was much higher than it should have been. Also, MS paid them for the timed exclusivity, how much is unknown, but I would imagine that whatever they paid Square covered at least 30% of the game's budget.

Also, I agree, FFXV was a definite success, I think it'll hit it's original 10m goal eventually. 

I just didn't know the most up to date figures for it. I know that it started kinda slow, which was to be expected. But the other side of that deal is that MS likely assisted with some of the promotional cost.
