That game looks more like a 2.5D platformer. I mean the interactions with the foreground and background assets is a good indicative of that.

I've only heard that term to mean 2D gameplay but with 3D graphics. Even with background and foreground gimmicks, it's still a sidescroller where you can only move in two directions with the majority of the action taking place on a single plane.
