The only games i was looking forward to before the direct were Pokemon and Smash. Now the direct is over and im looking forward to Pokemon, Smash, Luigis Mansion and Animal Crossing. That's only two other games i'm excited for and thats honestly really sad. That would mean by the end of 2019 i would have only bought two Nintendo games in 2018 and two in 2019. I feel like the switch is showing early signs of being another Wii U. There is a lack of interesting games. I think that the Switch might be even worse than the Wii U because a lot of it's games and upcoming games are games i already have on the Wii U, boring indie games, and games that will run better on my Xbox One or PC.

The problem with that statement is that you are using a point that is purely subjective (few games that interest you on Switch) and inferring that it is evidence for your theory (that the Switch situation is like the Wii U situation and that Nintendo has not learned). Just because you are distressed about only being interested in 2 games next year for Switch does not mean that everyone else is in the same situation, it also does not mean that the rest of the system's lineup no longer exists because you do not care about it. Similarly, just because you can play multiplats on your PC and Xbox One does not mean that everyone else will desire to do so, a good deal of people with a Switch might like to play on the go and may prefer the Switch version. The Switch has now surpassed the Wii U's lifetime sales, so to many of those that skipped the Wii U there is value in the Wii U ports (as evidenced by the sales of some of the ports). Moreover, what you may find boring in terms of indie titles, are not boring to others.
Once we take the subjectiveness out (few titles appealing specifically to you), there is very little in the Switch situation that resembles the Wii U situation. The Switch has much better third-party support than Wii U did, particularly from Japan. The system has had a much more steady flow of first-party titles releases (regardless of whether or not they appeal to you) and that trend seems to be continuing into 2019. First-party software sales are healthy and third-party sales must be meeting expectations since support has seemingly increased, whereas on Wii U it fizzled out shortly after the system released.

I feel like early and mid 2019 will be as barren as early and mid 208 but the only reason the Switch has sold well in 2018 is because its still a new console but in 2019 the new console hype will die down and sales are going to drop unless Nintendo picks up the pace. They need to stop with the remasters, gimped third parties and give us interesting Nintendo games. |
The interesting thing is that the falling off a cliff prediction was made for early 2018 at the end of 2017 on the basis of the hype dying, since that did not come to fruition you are now delaying it for one year.People will not overlook the games that they want and stop buying a console because you are not excited for certain games. There are people excited about Daemon X Machina, Yoshi's Crafted World, Fire Emblem The Three Houses, Pokemon 2019, New Super Mario Bros U, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime, etc. Those that like playing on the go will likely enjoy the third-party titles, even if they may exhibit better graphical fidelity elsewhere. Moreover, indie sales indicate that there is an audience for these types of games on the Switch.

Do you have any proof for that what so ever? Why would people buy a game that they do not want, especially since most Switch owners in Europe and US (70% in the US) own another console and can pickup other games not on the Switch? Also, looking beyond a mere subjective perspective based on what interests you, Nintendo released Captain Toad and Mario Tennis in very close range to Octopath Traveler, not to mention players could also play the Bayonetta collection, Kirby Star Allies, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze or one of the Nintendo titles that came out in 2017. Once again, you are taking your personal disinterest in a game and inferring that others are also not interested, but rationalizing the good sales (that counter your point) by saying that it was because there were no other games (which is also not true).
