Eh, Switch is much more than just handheld with HDMI port, it's total practically handheld and home console in one out of box, and you even have two different mods for games playing in handheld and home console mode. Also Nintendo didnt decaide just throw HDMI port on their portable, their efectfivly marged their handheld and home console divisions in to one and for first time they are going with just one platform instead two totally different platforms, and reason for that is that they couldnt effectively support any more two different platforms in same time.

Well if you want games up to the current AAA standard set by xbox and ps4 especially pro and x then the switch isn't that type of home console. The fact it had to be portable severely hampered the power they could aim for. This tells me they valued the portability more.

No shame in that because as a handheld its nice and powerful and imo that's its primary market and the market most of its Ltd sales will come from.

Well yeah, main point about AAA multiplatform games on Switch is point they could play in handheld and tabletop mode, but also that you can switch to docked mode and change play stylus that you suit more. But that doesnt mean that people playing Switch only in handheld mode, we had survey and around 50% Switch owners playing Switch in both modes, around 30% owners play Switch primary in portable/tabletop mode and around 20% plays primarily in docked mode. And thats exactly power of Switch, Switch suits difrent play styles, but of course if we talking about Japan specific we talking about handheld/tabletop mostly.

Yeah, there is zero sense to release onother hardware of any kind that will not be part of Switch platform. But like I wrote, I think that Nintendo will release Switch Mini/Pocket just for handheld play in order to have much more affordable price point and that will effectively replace 3DS price point on market when 3DS finaly dies. Nintendo already said that their goal with Switch is to be device per person instead device per house but that still isnt possible with current price point of Switch. I mean you can only try to imagine Switch sales in Japan when Switch has price point of around $200 with adition of avilible games like core Pokemon and Animal Crossing with already released games like Splatoon2, MK8D, Zelda BotW, Mario 2D/3D, new MH game...

I imagine it's sales will be like previous Nintendo handheld before and won't break their record. So that makes it quite easy to imagine. Between 20 and 30m imo.

That realy depends how much revision we will have, have long life span Switch will have, also one of factors could be if Sony will maybe release new handheld in Japan...its hard to say how much will sell at end, but for now I can see passing 20m at least (at end of this year, so less than 2 years on market Switch will pass 7m sold units in Japan).
