Some people will probably be upset by that, not me though. I'm absolutely ecstatic. Good riddance Sony handhelds, I've always hated you. The Vita wasn't really bad per se, but if all of Sony's attention is going to be solely focused on home consoles instead now then that's a massive win in my book!

It worked out for Sony, for the most part, during the PSP days. While the PS3 took a step back, the PSP was able to bring in a pretty solid install base, even if the DS install base was much bigger.

It's just the Vita had as much going against as much as it had going for it. While it was more powerful than the 3DS, a nice design, and potential for remote play, it launched at a pretty steep price point (not to mention the expensive memory cards), the Western third party support was ok at best initially and then fell off completely, and Sony really didn't put in the effort it needed during its second year of release (marketing, games, features, etc.).
