Have mine since May last year, doesn't have any issues with the cord, but the joycons have the dust problems where the character just moves on its own, don't know how to clean it even after watching videos, but my daughter doesn't seem to be bothered by it so I guess it's fine, I'll just buy a new set if I get the chance.

I had the same issues exactly with my left Joycon, you know you can order the parts to replace this from ebay for about 3e but you do need the Nintendo tri wing screwdriver to take it out and a very careful hand. I have IT support training so it wasn't much of a bother for me, but if you've not replaced innards of something before it could be a little tricky, the thing is the replacement stick costs about 3e the replacement joycons are about 40 euros, it was a no brainer for me to try a repair and mines been working perfectly since.

There is the joystick and the screwdrivers to replace it for £5.99 but you'll wanna watch a video on youtube first to see if you would be okay with doing it, you need to release a number of ribbon cables inside the joycon to get access to replace the stick and they are tiny. Let me know if you want any advice on doing it.

So it is a common thing...I'll be wary of the dust issue then. Hopefully it can be avoided.
