Did you mean to reply to mine? I mean yeah, it would be a pretty good idea, think about it. The thing I said earlier with E.Gadd's gadgets and unlocking lots of characters with different abilities is already halfway there.

I don't know if it'd have a very big crowd though, since the crowd for Super Mario Odyssey is gigantic in comparison.

Super Mario World got 20 million. If they structured it like that with levels on a world map, but with abilities that unlocked secret exits when you revisited levels, it would be kind of like a Metroidvania, but Mario style. I mean in a way Super Mario World had some light Metroidvania elements. It had levels with branching paths, and you could only explore certain parts if you brought the right powerup with you, or if you had unlocked the yellow/red/blue/green blocks with the appropriate switch castle, or if you had the right color Yoshi, or what have you. It's not too far a step from there to add E. Gadd gadgets and character abilities, and even more secret levels only accessible through secret exits. Mario Bros. 3 even let you carry a ton of items in an inventory and use appropriate items at certain places to get through areas of the map you couldn't normally.
