That was a deliberate choice by them, but it's not necessary at all. For comparison, see Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which has included a female option for the first time and has received almost no pushback for it. Because they did it well and didn't try and make a kind of social statement with it. |
Exactly. What annoyed people generally is that they wanted a authentic depiction of WW2. They could have easily added in French resistance for example and the voices of complaint would have just been the idiots.... in other words very low.
It didnt help that there were a lot of people who drowned out this argument using the sexist card, which was a shame. People just want games like this to be authentic and as realistic as possible.
