Switch is thrashing the 3DS in the US and Europe, fact is 3DS was never that popular outside of Japan. Switch is gaining mass acceptance because it can play more console styles of games that the 3DS couldn't handle.
You can't have a game on the 3DS that makes people go "wow" the way Breath of the Wild does.
