Perhaps they wanted a Pokemon game to come out this year (or else they will have nothing) soooo they made something easy to make.

And probably how from 3DS to Switch is HUGE leap in terms of graphical power and removing the dual screen which they used since the DS.

Then explain why Go catching mechanics replaced Wild Pokemon battle despite claiming Let's Go is part of mainline title according to their press presentation. They can easily make a game that caters toward both core and casual go crowd with an option to chose between normal and new gameplay element at the start of the game.

Masuda is really a dinosaur when it comes to gameplay decision.

They need to stop with the idea of bringing Wii and Mobile crowd asap, Switch is currently benefited greatly from core Nintendo fans as opposed to the Wii.

1 2 switch + Labo + Pokemon Let's Gp = reminiscent of Wii era nightmares

Yet wii sold 100 million.

If they want to sell more switches, they have to expand the audience. People who want a core pokemon game will buy a switch for 2019 game. If you see the influence in hardware of a second core pokemon game is very slim, because people already bought the console for the first core game(happehap with 3ds).

With a game targeted to different audiences, they can sell more consoles. And kimishima said that would be the strategy to sell 20 million this year. When starting get close to winter, and pokemon go players couldn't get out very often to play, they will have the option to play a new adventure at home, catching in the way they are used to, they can join with someone in the house. It can possibly be huge, but we won't see this effect in summer while they are enjoying pokemon go. Just need more marketing applied correctly (TV, or even on pokemon go app), and a switch bundle, marketing the similatities and the integration with the phone app.
