In real world non of those things are big mistakes, they are negatives and every console have them, but they are not big mistakes that affects sales in meaningful way.
Wii U failed because several huge mistakes Nintendo made, terible branding and marketing, no big system seller games on launch and in first year, not apealing concept, and Nintendo corected all that things with Switch, great market and branding, killer 1st year with several system seller games and great concept, if you look Switch is very similar to Wii.

But Switch itself and their games for Switch prove they are not out of touch with modern gaming, if that is a case their Switch games wouldn't be great and Switch hardware wouldn't be wanted.
