"Speaking at the Pentagon earlier today, Vice President Mike Pence outlined the official plan to create the U.S. Space Force, the first new branch of the military in more than 70 years.Describing it as “an idea whose time has come,” Pence told an audience of U.S. Armed Forces that the Space Force—the first new military branch since the establishment of the U.S. Air Force in 1947—will restore American leadership in space. Pence provided some new details about the Space Force and his administration’s plan for rolling out the new branch, which he expects to be up-and-running by 2020. Later today, the Pentagon will be releasing a congressionally mandated report describing the steps needed to create the new branch."

“an idea whose time has come,” - this is not even an idea. it was just a piece of arbitrary bullshit that Trump happened to blurt out without any knowledge of what a "Space Force" would require or entail

"restore American leadership in space" - implying we ever had leadership in space? space is not an open territory, it is literally nothing. nobody is manning it, only a few countries have presence there, and its exclusively for research purposes. what does this even mean?

"which he expects to be up-and-running by 2020" - you mean to tell me that we are going to have multiple, entirely constructed, tested space-ready military vessels along with however many people needed to man said vessels ready in TWO years?

"a congressionally mandated report describing the steps needed to create the new branch" - like a space research division funded by the government? oh right, we have NASA... which the government defunded...
