Saudi Arabia is a country that formed in the 20th century after conquering the land from the Hashemites (The same dynasty that rules Jordan). They're tyrants.
But the thinking of the US and their allies is thinking is something like this:
Man 1: "Let's investigate these September 11th attacks."
Man 2: "OMG! The attackers were from Saudi Arabia!"
Man 2: "What does this mean? Should we investigate the Saudis?"
Man 1: "NO! We go to war on terror!"
Man 2: "Where is terror?"
Man 1: "NOT SAUDI ARABIA, but lets bomb the hell out of Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan, Yemen, and attack Pakistan until children become afraid of the sky."
Man 2: "Look, the Shia people are helping fight against the ISIS and Al Qaeda."
Man 1: "HAHA, SHIA FOOLS, BOMB THEM!!!"
Man 2: "But those guys are helping to kill the terrorists."
Man 1: "DO AS I SAY, BOMB THEM!"
Man 2: "How will we deal with Saudi Arabia?"
Man 1: "Our forces have been ineffective in finding the terrorist group, in order to dig up the funders, we should give the House of Saud WEAPONS!"
Man 2: "How much money worth of weapons?"
