I'd say she deserves a few months before we start giving up hope. Stuff like this can take a LOT of time to recover from, and we're not going to be high on her priority list until it's clear to her that she'll be back for the long term. If I were her, I'd be focusing on friends and family until I knew I'd recovered enough that time wasn't so short anymore.
